Dermal Fillers

Signs of aging can begin to appear on the face long before you start feeling older. Fine lines and deeper creases make an appearance as early as the 30s, while loss of facial volume in areas like the cheeks and jawline may begin to show up a decade or two later. Loss of collagen and elastin are the primary culprits of these changes, as the body naturally begins producing less of these substances over time. Injectable treatments can restore some of your youthful vitality and fullness, while minimizing the appearance of wrinkles.

What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that work underneath the surface of the skin to support the underlying skin structure, smooth away wrinkles and restore lost volume. Some of the treatments are also effective in stimulating the body’s own collagen production to provide long-lasting, natural results. At New Visage, we offer a variety of options in dermal fillers that allow us to adapt your treatment to your specific needs and desired outcome.

What do they treat?
Dermal fillers can be used to address the following areas of concern:

  • Lines extending from the nose to the mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Small vertical lines in the corners of the mouth (smile lines)
  • Creases that extend from the mouth to the jawline (marionette lines)
  • Small, undefined lips
  • Cheeks that have lost their fullness and definition
  • Hollow areas under the eyes that give a tires appearance

Dermal fillers can also be used in combination with Botox to minimize lines, restore facial volume and even firm up loose skin in a procedure known as a “liquid facelift.” This procedure is usually recommended to patients with early to moderate signs of aging that are looking for a way to avoid or postpone surgical procedures.

Options in Dermal Fillers
New Visage offers the following options in dermal fillers:

JUVÉDERM™
JUVÉDERM™ is a smooth gel that offers a natural look and feel for up to six months or longer. JUVÉDERM boasts an effectively high concentration of hyaluronic acid and a special formulation process that creates long-lasting results. The smooth gel flows easily into the skin, creating a smooth, natural appearance.

Voluma
Juvederm Voluma is specifically designed to restore youthful fullness to the midface area, adding definition to the cheekbones and creating a more proportionate facial profile. The hyaluronic acid-based formula is infused with lidocaine for a more comfortable procedure. Voluma offers subtle lift and volume that can last up to two years for most patients.

Restylane
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler that can smooth away even stubborn facial creases around the nose and mouth. This smooth solution adds volume underneath the skin’s surface to reduce the appearance of smile lines, nasolabial folds and other signs of aging. Results typically last 9-12 months before a touch-up procedure is needed.

Restylane Lyft
Over time, natural fat begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face and hands. Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks, midface area, and the back of the hands to help complete your aesthetic look — for face and hands.

Restylane Silk
Smaller, smoother particles in the Restylane Silk formulation are especially created to add subtle volume and definition to lips and smooth away fine lines that commonly appear around the mouth. It is currently the only solution approved by the FDA specifically for mouth enhancement. Restylane Silk offers fast, effective results that can last six months or longer.

Revanesse® Versa
Revanesse Versa is hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found within the body. It is used as an injectable soft tissue filler in order to correct the appearance of facial wrinkles and creases, (nasolabial folds).

What is the procedure like?
Dermal fillers are administered by injection using a very fine needle placed just under the surface of the skin. Some formulations may need to be injected deeper, but these typically feature a topical anesthetic in the mix to make the procedure more comfortable. Most treatments take just a few minutes to complete and patients can return to regular activities immediately following the procedure. Some patients may experience mild swelling or lumpiness at the injection sites, which will usually subside within a day or two.

What kind of results can I expect?
Results will depend on the type of dermal filler used. Some formulations, like Juvederm, tend to show results right away, while others, like Sculptra, tend to evolve over time. Duration of results will also vary, from around six months for Juvederm injections to two years or more with Sculptra.

Lip Injections

Lip injections can restore volume, definition, and fullness to lips that have become lackluster and thin with age, or simply enhance lips that are naturally thin. At New Visage, our skin care specialists are on hand to provide the most advanced formulations in lip injections for our clients in the Morehead City and Jacksonville, North Carolina area.

At New Visage, you may choose from a variety of lip injections formulated to create fuller, more voluptuous lips, improving lip contour and definition and reducing fine vertical lines around the lips and mouth.

What kind of improvements can Lip Injections achieve?

If you were born with plain, flat or thin lips, or if you’ve reached an age when your lipstick won’t stay inside the lip line, lip injections and/or lip augmentation can give you the added volume and definition to spruce up your lips, and by extension, your entire facial appearance.  Lip injections make your lips look fuller, smoother, and define the natural contour of your lips, diminishing unsightly lines and creases around the lip line. Lip injections may provide long-lasting results with no downtime.

Who is a good candidate for Lip Injections?

Lip injections may be ideal for most healthy adults with no contraindicated medical conditions affecting the mouth and lips, such as oral herpes. Our specialist can determine whether lip injections may be right for you and recommend the right formulation.

How do Lip Injections work?

Lip injections, such as Restylane Silk® or Juvéderm® Ultra, are formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA). These gels are injected directly into the lips, increasing hydration in skin cells, making the lips fuller and more defined while also diminishing the appearance of thin, vertical lines around the lip line. These hyaluronic acid (HA) formulas provide continued improvements in lip volume over a period of several weeks.

What can I expect after Lip Injections?

There is no downtime after lip injections, and you will be able to resume normal activity right away. You may experience some minor swelling or bruising at the injection sites for a day or two, but you can alleviate this by applying an ice pack for 20 minutes. We recommend you refrain from touching, kissing, or irritating your lips in any way, for the first 24 hours after treatment to assist optimal recovery. While you may notice immediate results right after treatment, you may continue to see additional improvements over several weeks. Results may normally last several months.

If you’re in the Jacksonville area of North Carolina and want more voluptuous lips and a younger-looking smile, try a lip augmentation at New Visage in Morehead City. Contact our office today for a consultation at 252-808-2NEW (2639).
